We're in Brisbane. Fraser Island was awesome but the mobile reception is a tad on the doesn't exist spectrum. (Post soon) This wasn't us but I could see how easily it could have been. There was one poor beamer beached with no body around on the way to the barge...
The big boys hit the beach with rods while the rest played.
A quick trip to Central Station which was once the centre for logging on Fraser. Then off to the main attraction... the Crystal clear waters of Lake MacKenzie. http://youtu.be/M3vY4ICrhS0
A swim in the rock pools was in order today.
Camp for the next few days. Went for a little drive that drove the chief navigator around the bend but the end of the road had an awesome view of Lake Wabby. A hot spot for tourists Eli Creek. A little luxury ship nobody wanted.
The ocean crossing was a little rough but we managed :) The locals were ready for a traditional welcome and we found our home for the next 6 nights.
Inskip Peninsula is a narrow, sandy finger of land built up by wind and waves. Inskip is a gateway to World Heritage-listed Fraser Island and where we'll be catching the barge. Total distance traveled: 6252km
We arrived just before dark yet again. This place is rather nice. The interwebs tells me; Seventeen Seventy, also written as 1770, is a village in Queensland, built on the site of the second landing by James Cook and the crew of HM Bark Endeavour in May 1770. Total distance traveled: 5910km
I can't say that I enjoyed my time here. It's amazing how a few can tarnish the entire city. There was one thing worth seeing.
We've driven a million miles today to this nice little free camp just south of Rockhampton. We arrived just in time to get a meal at the pub.
