Mount Ramelou Summit – Day 7

What a day. Up at 1:25am to drive from Maubisse to the car park of Mount Ramelou in time to see the sunrise. The sunrise was never really going to happen as it had been raining since yesterday.

The drive took longer than I thought as did the climb. Everyone is happy and chatty along the way, many have walked from as far away as Dili. I’ve mastered good morning in Tetum. Anyone that knows a little english has been keen to try to have a conversation.

Today is a very religious day for the Timor people and will see thousands of locals make their way to nearly 3000m above sea level.

Sleet was an addition bonus to the million km/h winds on the way up.
