What a day. Up at 1:25am to drive from Maubisse to the car park of Mount Ramelou in time to see the sunrise. The sunrise was never really going to happen as it had been raining since yesterday. The drive took longer than I thought as did the climb. Everyone is happy and chatty along […]
I’m heading to Maubisse in Timor-Leste on a volunteer mission. The plan today is simple. Drive to airport, fly to Darwin then fly to the capital, Dili. Left home about 6:30pm. After going through customs etc departed Melbourne airport about 9:30pm. Flew over home at 10:00pm at 24,000 feet. Arrived in Darwin tomorrow. Thought about […]
That holiday is well and truly done and dusted. I few important things to remember for next time if someone has a great idea. We used 1628 litres of diesel, setup camp 23 times, traveled a total of 9117 km, only broke things that didn’t really matter and had an absolutely awesome adventure. Lets not forget the thing […]
The plan was to get up and get ready to leave reasonably early… a little after 10am we finally packed up and hit the road. There was a suggestion to go through Tumut as it may have been a little quicker. It may have been shorter but the weather made sure we didn’t make great […]
We didn’t leave Port Stevens until after 3pm and had 600+ km to go til the next stop. We could start the car again which was a bonus. The drive was long and included one passenger vomiting in the car park of a Scottish restaurant on the outskirts of Sydney, fog, rain and arriving at camp […]
Three nights here with some great friends that we haven’t seen in ages. The days are becoming cooler as are the nights as we head south. The beaches in around Port Stevens are quite nice, it was a little difficult keeping the kids out of the water.
Its hard to believe we only have one week left. We have met so many awesome people and seen and done so many fantastic things. I’m sure we’ll be sad when it’s all over and we hear the last “Are we there yet?” from the back. A few highlights from the trip so far 🙂
A little place just north of South West Rocks on the Macleay River and also the last place the car started without a little help. It was a long day in the car yesterday, we didn’t make to camp in the the light. From memory today was the third day on this epic journey […]
We spent some time at Streets Beach on South Bank. You can see the excitement on their little faces. We also managed to spend some time in the Obliteration Room in it’s last week at the Queensland Art Gallery.
